Johnny Kane stepped on the Last One yesterday with his Zebco 808 in hand. Capt Rob chuckled when he saw it. A half hour run north and 2 casts later Johnny Kane landed a 16 pound Bluefish, and then a Bass, and then another. By the end of the day Capt Rob was a believer. Jigs were the ticket for most of the afternoon for both Stripers and Monster Blues. After the boat traffic subsided the fish were up on top busting pods of bait. We broke out big floating poppers and were sight casting to the fish boiling on top. We were giggling like little kids as the Bass flew up in the air as they crashed the plugs. After two hours of non stop action we headed back to the dock with 31 Bluefish and 10 Stripers in the box. We lost count of how may fish went back in the water, but we did keep count of the 1 Penn 965 reel and custom Star rod I dropped in. Oops...! |
